you changed the thermostat, did it flow before? take the stat out, it might be stuck, Ive seen this, remove bottom hose and top hose put a house water hose in engine( cold ) in the bottom inlet and see if water drains out the top of motor. if not you have a blockage in your engine that is rare but possible. if you get flow out of motor then it could be a bad pump. process of elimination good luck. if you try all of these and they don't work a mechanic is in order! also check for water in oil. even if a blown head gasket it still should flow any vapor out of tail pipe?

Sounds like the head may be cracked or the head gasket may be bad and your cooling system is getting pressurized. Are you sure there's no flow? The next step I would take would be to do a compression test. If you've replaced the water pump...it may be possible that it was installed wrong or defective. Other than that, it has to be a restriction or pressure preventing circulation.

Check to see if the bottom radiator hose is collapsing. Some of these come with a "spring" in them because this isn't all that uncommon. Oh yea, those lower hoses can collapse on the inside only if they have separated internally. It will still feel extremely soft and "mushy" if you squeeze it.

Assuming for the moment that you've properly installed all the above, (you didn't put the thermostat in BACKWARDS did you?) refilled the cooling system, and waited a reasonable amount of time for the thermostat to open, I'd say the next step would be to find someone who can backflush the engine block.

Best of luck to you.

What drives the water pump? Check to see if a belt is on it, because that what drives it.
