Everything in life involves choices. If you're just a little short of your needs, try either analyzing your needs to see if there's anything you can easily let go of, or find a second, part-time job to make up the difference. Money isn't everything - loving your job is worth a lot! Also, look at the future - do you have a reasonable chance of a promotion that would get you more money?

If you're way short of money, you probably need to bite the bullet and look for a higher-paying job.

Try talking to your boss about giving you a raise. It never hurts to ask, but be professional about it. Let them know how much you enjoy what you do, and how much you know about you position.
