There are some states that actually have summer work programs for children. Here where I live they had a CEDA program. Where as every summer they would have children usually, 11 years and older clean up around the community, normally about 2 to 3 hours per day. CEDA is a government program and there may be one in your community. Other jobs you may want to look into is house cleaning for the elderly, yard work, babysitting, dog walking or a paper route. Good luck and have a happy and safe summer. Oh one more thing, if the eleven year old is a good swimmer she may also be able to find work as a junior life guard at your local YM or YWCA.

I agree with Corbeyelise... sell lemonade (and popcorn if you have a popper) Something about it... people love buying from a cute kid on the corner. Must be the nostalgia... good luck. (FYI - my daughter made $31 doing this when she was 5 years old. Even the grocery store clerks recognized her and stopped on their way to work)
Or you can feed pets while people are on vacation.
