17 to drive some of them. But hire companies and certain couriers ask that you are at least 21 (or have had a clean licence for a certain number of years).

As long as you have a full uk driving lisence you can drive anything up to 3 ton gross (a van with a single rear axel and one wheel each end) from the age of 17 but most companies would only employ people older than 21 for insurance purposes. Anything over 3 ton now needs another test and lisence and you need to be over 21 to take them.

You can drive it using a standard UK passenger car driving license. You must be a minimum of 17 years of age.

However you are able to drive at the age of 16 if you are in one of the armed forces (army etc).

You are licensed to drive the vehcile up to an total weight of 7.5 tonnes. Thats the weight of the load plus the weight of the van (i.e. if the van weights 2.5 tonnes, then you can carry a load of up to 5.5 tonnes)

Plus its well fun driving around in one!

since 1999 if you pass your test for a car. You cannot drive a van until you pass that test for it. Best to pass your van test first which covers you to drive a car as well
