I'd recommend... anything from Grease, Whitney Houstons really famous song that i can't think of, Kelly Clarkson, or...something else... My friend sang 'I'll Be' by Edwin McCain for last years talent show..... it was great.

I don't think you should try a "grownup" song. How about "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" - the original version? I think your voice is better shown off by not doing a really well-known pop song by a famous artist, because then you are compared to them. They always give this advice on American Idol.

If your primary audience is kids, then I would go for something modern. If there will be a lot of adults in the audience, I would go for something older, like "Greatest Love of All" by Whitney Houston, or something even older than that, like "Dream A Little Dream of Me" (Mama's and the Papa's version).
