The world is your oyster! Take time for yourself, do something that you never could before because of your children. Enroll in school (art class, creative writing, etc.) or do volunteer work (hospital, nursing home, etc.) travel, anything that enriches your life. You're on the path to a new beginning. Good Luck!

How about a class, something new like fencing, maybe try acting with your hometown acting troupe, some sort of martial arts, an art class like sculpture or stained glass (which can also become quite lucrative. Pick up a metal detector and treasure hunt. Get a drum set. Get a motorcycle (seems to be a regular 40 thing now). Whatever it is, make it something you have never done before. I'm 55 and think I will finish college.

check to see if there are any social clubs in your area. Lot's of Boomers are in the same situation. My folks just moved to Florida so my Mom just went up the street introducing herself to the nieghbors - now they get together w/ one couple to go bike riding and another couple for cheese and wine chats.

Take an adult ed class in a subject you always wanted to know more about. Check out what the library has to offer.

I'm sure you used to have hobbies that you gave up because of work, kids, etc. Why don't you check the closest community college and see what classes they offer? Or, ask your friends what they do and join them if you share their interests. Good luck!
