It depends what nationality YOU are.

Are you a citizen of Britain, Ireland or both? What does your passport say?

Maybe you immigrated to Argentina and can play for them. It all depends on your citizenship.

Yes, you could play on the English or Irish team. All you need is citizenship for a country to play on their team.

You can play for Britain or Ireland. I know this for sure. I'm from trinidad and tobago and one of our players(chris birchall) is English. His mother was born here and migrated to England and married an englishman and he joined our national team last year since he didn't have much luck with the english team. He's one of the best on the team and helped us to qualify for the world cup!

This means that if your good enough, you can choose the team to play for, however, once you are caped for that country you can't play for another.

In this case you should play for England cause of their long footballing tradition.

You choose which team you want to play. For example Owen Hargreaves because of his ancestry he was eligible to play for England, Wales and Canada. He chose to play for England.

no. its not where your roots are from...its where YOURE from. so if you were born in england, then you could play for england...if you were born in ireland, then you can play for ireland. or if you become a citizen of a country, you can play for that country. but you cant just pick cause your parents are from a certain place.
