It would be an exciting trip now.

After the war is over, If the airfares go down to attract tourists I would be interested. I have drooled over pictures of the ancient sites and museums

Syria used to be a beautiful nation with a rich history of civility and achievement. Certainly, Damascus was the cradle of civilization in the Mid-East at one point.

But all that changed once the Caliphate was centred in Damascus.

But so long as its a quasi-facist state ruled by Bashar and supported by the Islamic Fundamentalist Iran...you'd have to be crazy to visit it.

Syria, like most Islamic Countries, does not have a bright future.
