I really think it would be cool for me to get into Jr. drag racing, but how much does it cost? I'm 13, about to be 14, but not nearly rich. Middle class. Is there any sites on jr. drag racing, I take it it would be IHRA events. I like Top Fuel, but funny car etc. is fine. No motocycles. Thanks!

Wait 2 years until you can get into a real car, then start bracket racing and move up from there. You have to get new juniors for age classes and you ll only be able to race for another couple years any way. Just wait. It ll be worth it. That's what I did.

Jr Drag racing to me is a little expensive. An average used dragster can sell for 6 to 7 thousand dollars. You still need to buy parts, tools and equipment. You can buy an old V-8 powered car for less than $2,000 and go drag racing much cheaper. Some people actually race the car they drive every day. It doesn't get any cheaper than that. Even with a Jr Dragster, you will need a trailer, a tow vehicle, and a place to work on it when you're not racing. There's always maintenance to be done. Check out the NHRA and IHRA websites, find the closest dragstrip to your house and go check it out.

Keep checking the classifieds on NHRA.com there are often jr dragsters for sale.

You can also buy a complete 'kit' from several of the online parts sites such as jegs.com and summitracing.com for under $10,000

Used jr dragsters seem to run between $2500 and $6500 depending on how much equipment is included and to what performance (modifications) have been made to the car.

All jr dragsters are certified (means they are safe) for kids, their performance and modifications are limited to age group.
