You need something legally binding when it comes to child support. You have to be assured that your child is taken care of in the best way possible.

It is best to have an attorney review the financial situation of both parents and determine what is the fair and legal amount of child support recommended by the laws of the state you live in.

If you can work it out without the courts intervention, you will be better off. It has to be reasonable to all parties, not just some figure agreed upon just to get the divorce. If you let the courts h andle it there are state laws regulating the amount of child support paid, here in Florida the amount is around 600 a month for each child and is usually deducted from paycheck automatically. So the courts take in all conditions like how much the primary parent makes in income, spousal support, how much the non resident parent makes, any other income and so forth. Judges like it when divorce details are worked out beforehand as this makes their job easier. good luck

My ex drug me through the courts every time he got upset about anything. I got to know my attorney really well and probably paid for his last vacation. After 10 years the ex and I get along just fine. He is with a different lady and she has a good influence on him. The previous one wanted him to keep trying to cut back the money the state said he had to pay. Indiana has a set chart they use to figure child support. We couldn't challenge it if we wanted.

laws vary by state, but my divorce was in kentucky, which is no fault state, and all marital property is divided 50-50, unless agreement is made otherwise. Me and my ex wife was in agreement on no child support, but i am in custody of 1 child, and she has the other. So each of us is raising one kid. I hope my experience helps answer your question, but my best advice to you would be to seek assistance from a good attorney in your state.

the father of my teenager ;has 4 other girls, he never had to paychild support for any of them, so when it didnt work with us, I had to take him to court to have it documented. its the only right way. otherwise he gets off scott free.
dont worry what he says, get it down in the courts, its the right thing to do.
mine threatened to take my baby if I made him pay child support, 16yr laters and he still dont want any visitation rights. he hasnt seen her. but he does pay child support every week out of his paycheck.
