When you have discussed and negotiated life after the wedding, every single thing about it, finances, jobs, household responsibilities, in laws, ex's, time out with friends, children, and a million other things you never thought of. and when you can honestly commit to each aspect of the vows you will take...

richer or poorer...broke and living in a shack, still wanna be married?

sickness and health...one contracts a life changing illness, physical or mental, still wanna be married?

better or worse....one is in an accident and the other is left to feed them and change their diapers and be the sole bread winner for the rest of their lives, still wanna be married?

and don't forget no sex with anyone else ever!

even if you could still stick it out, do you have faith that the other would stick by you through all of this too? don't just consider the upside, if things go ok, anybody can be happy when things are going well, truly consider the downside of things, the worst you can think of (reading some of the questions here and thinking about whether you would still want to be with him in that situation is a good idea) and then if you would still truly want only that person you think about getting married. the one guarantee you have is that things will NOT always go well, there WILL be problems and issues.

You know that you are ready for marriage when you know that it feels right. You will have a feeling that you both want to spend the rest of your lives together and of course you have to be best friends.

Most of the time, the woman is ready without question. It usually takes men a little more time to come around. Wait until he asks. If he doesn't ask and you are ready, let him know you are ready...If he says he's not, then you have to decide whether you want to wait around until he is ready or if you want to leave.

When the time is right you will both know it. If you have to question it then you are not ready.

Getting married is like russian roulette. Sometimes you fire the bullet and get shot and killed and sometimes the gun gets jammed and misses, but you live.
