They cost a lot and unfortunately these are not the purest minerals that you can get. Try Everyday Minerals at everydayminerals.com. EM sends samples for free and the normal cost of the products is 1/5 of BE.

I've never seen it marked down or on sale. It's the same price on TV that it is in the Bare Minerals store and at Ulta but it's worth it. It lasts for a long time and you don't even look like you are wearing makeup. You can sleep in it without worry and if you have breakouts this makeup will help keep your pores clean because it's not liquid. It's the best makeup I've ever used.

Yes, it is worth the cost! It looks very natural. No one believes I wear makeup. They just think I have great skin. The price is pretty standard. Buy one of the kits. They come with everything you need, including the brushes. And it lasts awhile. All I have replaced in a year is foundation and Mineral Veil.

i've just started using this makeup myself, so i've done quite a bit of research on this, and this is what i've come up with:
the kit is definitely the best way to go if you're looking to try the basics at a great price. for example, the regular price of the kabuki brush alone is $28, and 1 jar of foundation is $25... but a basic kit can be purchased for $60. (of course, if you buy online, they add shipping costs.)
i looked into the kits online and at sephora (but i hear they're sold at a store called "ulta" as well). the kits available at the website (http://www.bareminerals.com/kits_bm4.html will take you directly to the kits) vary slightly from the ones at sephora. like, a basic kit online comes with a kabuki brush with an actual handle, as opposed to the very small kabuki brush in the sephora kit. another difference is that the sephora kit comes with a bottle of the "skin rev-ver upper," which appears to be a primer and/or moisturizer (contains salicylic acid). the one online comes with a small eyeshadow and travel case to carry the powder around. also, if you have extremely fair skin like me... their lightest shade, "fair," is not available in the sephora kits. only in the kits online.
needless to say, i went with the internet purchase, and am still waiting for it in the mail. i didn't feel like waiting, though, and went out and bought some foundation + mineral veil in the meantime, to try. i do love the stuff, and the people who answered your question above are right about it looking more natural than any other makeup. i'm totally breaking out right now though, and i'm not sure if it's this makeup. (i've tried a few other new products recently too, PLUS it's hot summer weather, PLUS i'm PMS-y right now... hehe)
in any case, i would definitely at grab a kit try it out. if it doesn't break you out, it's a fantastic way to go; if it ends up working for me, i will never go back to liquid makeup. this stuff is just too good.
one thing i would warn you about if you decide to go in person to have a makeup assistant put some on you in a store... i've had this done about 3x now, and each time, they either got the color wrong, or put wayyyy too much on my face. this makeup really is easy to apply, but it's best to figure it out for yourself at home -- and apparently the most common mistake people make when using this product is using too much.
get the right shade(s) (might have to mix 2 of them), make sure your moisturizer is well absorbed before you apply, go with the "less is more" approach, practice a little, and i think you'll have gorgeous skin. :D good luck, girl!

Buy a starter kit from ulta.com. ($45: comes with 2 foundations, warmth, and mineral veil, plus video and full coverage brush) It's definately worth the price, plus it lasts a LONG time. I will never wear a different line of makeup.

I have tried it. I ordered it off of the TV. I did not like it becaus I did not think that it covered well and it made my face look oily and it sometimes looked uneven-blotchy. I have a little acne still but not as often as I use to. I really think that the makeup is the best under eye concealer--use the little flat brush and it covers under your eyes so well. That is the best thing about it in my opinion. I had a lot of trouble with the company. I told them that I wanted only one set of the makeup charged to my credit card. Of course they tried to sign me up to get it delivered every two months. I told them I did not want that and that I only wanted to try the product and if I liked it then I would call back for more. Well, they kept sending it anyway and billing me. I called them about this problem and I asked to return the unopen packages and still they never got back with me. I tried to send it back but the post office could not b/c it was considered junk mail. I kept calling and complained and they stopped sending it finally. So be leary of that.
My sister really likes the makeup. She has a lot of acne scars and she says it covers them so well. She buys it at a discount makeup store in Dallas, Texas. I do not know the name of it. So, it all depends on what you like and what type of skin you have. It is suppose to be really good for your skin, but I do not think that it is all that great. You will have to try it out and see for yourself. That is the only way to know. Watch for specials on TV or go to their website and call the number to see if they have any discounts or specials to give you a better price.

Yes, it's worth the cost. It's great. I haven't seen it cheaper anywhere either, it last forever. I love the blushes and face blushers they have, they are very natural looking, and I always get compliments on my skin when I wear it.
I teach aerobic classes and don't like to wear alot of makeup, I like the more natural look, so I wear this and I really like it. I'm in my 50's and still get compliments on my skin. Go for it!

i have used it for years and while any make-up not bought at a drugstore can feel expensive, bare essentials lasts a long time and when (for a brief time) i switched - my skin was the worst it has ever been. i am glad to be back with it.
i love it! you can't buy it on sale, but it is everywhere - tv, sephora, ulta and online - oh and there own store if you have one at your mall.
