Four years ago I loan 2000.00 to my son and his wife and ask them to give methe title for his truck to hold for the money that was ok and they was to pay me back a 100.00 a mo until it was paid off and his wife kept putting the payment off or paying once or twice every 3 mo and never paying it off and every time me and my husband went over they had a lot of new stuff and say her mother had bought it for them or for the kids witch I new better this went on for a wile and the note was to be paid off june 2004 and of corse it was not and so About 5 mo ago I had found out that she had went filed for a lost title in 2004 and I have the Orignal title that they had gave me to hold for the loan of the money and after she had gotten the new truck title she took it to the bank and put it up on a loan at the bank and now I can't see the Grandbabies and none of our family eathernot even the Grate Grandmother only the wifes family is alowd so we are being punished for their wrong doing? I don't quite understand the loan business there. Do you now owe money on anything? or are you just not getting your money back?
If it is the case that you're not getting your money back, I'd say let it go. Write it off. Gone. Consider it a gift (or, if you like, a mistake that you won't repeat).
It's sad that you cannot see your grandchildren, but grandparents have no legal rights regarding their grandkids. You should speak to your son to bring the kids around every now and then and don't bring up the loan. Try to convince him that the kids will be better off if they have a relationship with both sides of the family.
