Your best bet is to start off with something small first. Are you involved in sports? If so that is the perfect way to introduce them into the idea. You could even try making your own lifting equipment like home made bar-bells that would get their attention after all the would not want to see you get hurt. Go to the store with them every chance you get don't ask for anything just try out the equipment and sigh once in a while.... Good Luck

get a weight bench for starters. Get one with a weight stack, that has a key, which you can change the weight stack to your liking. They're only like $200 at walmart, and that will get you about 150 pounds of tension. OR get yourself a typical weight set, which you have a bar with weights on each end. Get the one with the leg press on it.

If you keep the price low, your parents won't fuss as much. If you're talking a $1000 bowflex, then you'll get a "hell no!" by mom and dad.

Maybe your parents can't afford to buy you and expensive lifting machine.Either you can work something out like pay for half with a part time job you could get. Or find a used machine at a good price. Or make your own weights find some heavy rock or steel blocks and do your own work out.

Are you STILL asking this question? You've changed the words a little, but it's still the same question.

Tell your parents that you are sick and tired of having weird guys stare at you and drool when you get naked in the locker room. Tell them that you are sick and tired of taking showers with a bunch of old perverts. Tell them that you saw a couple of guys doing something unspeakable in the sauna... and you don't ever want to go to the gym again in your life.

Well you gotta be atleast 15 maybe to use that...

I would just buy some regular weights... no need for bowflex unless you wanna be an almost body builder.

maybe you should just start by asking for a membership to a gym then if they can see that you are committed to going and using their equipment then maybe your parents will spring for the at home gym.
