Depression is a serious thing so, I that you should let that person get over itself
But, can talk to her/him to try to let person's feelings out.

Depression can be difficult because it is not really something that u can help another out of, the best thing to do is make sure the other person knows u r there whenever they may need u, discuss plans for the future so they don't get stuck in the past or the mind-frame they are currently in, don't always try and say the right thing, cus that could annoy them, sometimes just listen because at that moment all they may have needed was to talk and have someone listen.

Depression can be a serious illness, sometimes even life-threatening. If your friend has been depressed for some time, they may need professional help and medical treatment. Help them to recognize that they don't have to be depressed, that they can feel better, with appropriate treatment.

That's a tough one. You can't change how someone else feels. They need to change it themselves. Probably the best answer is to stay involved and don't let them get 'too' alone. Everyone needs their space, but too much alone time when depressed does not help. Finally, if it is really serious, get a professional involved.

well i get depress a lot but it does not last long because instead of looking at the negative look at the positive.and just thank god for that and you will feel better in no time.

make them laugh. do anything to funny to get them to smile. make them rember the happy memories and be there for them
