Hopefully it is something that will not slow down the performance of my system. I have been using McAfee and it has worked fine so far,but my 3 month subscription is over and I need to get some input on whether I should re-up with McAfee or go with another alltogether? Thank you. I use my computer mainly for surfing and watching streaming movies.

Go with AVG its free and the best.
You also need other protection if your on the net.
(do not use 2 antivirus at the same time as they will see each other as viruses and cause problems)
You can and should use all of the following.

I use all of the following Free software with Windows XP SP2 and Internet Explorer with MSN toolbar and the pop-up blocker turned on and have never had a single problem with my computer sense Microsoft came out with SP2. (knock on wood.) (And be sure to keep Windows and the following software Updated)

The best Anti-virus is: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. (www.grisoft.com)

The Best Spyware defense is: SpyBot Search and Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html)<--English version

AND: AdAware SE (www.lavasoft.com)
AND Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.info/kb/)
The best Firewall besides the one that comes with Windows is: Zone Alarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/co... or just (www.zonelabs.com) and select the FREE version.

These are all FREE and are all that are required. There is no reason to pay for this kind of software, except to give a donation to the writers if you can.
ALL the above programs are recommended and should be run on a regular basis. With some the free versions they must be run manually.

The best way to avoid getting any Malware (virus, Trojan's, spyware, etc) is to practice safe computing. Microsoft and many others have countless articles on the subject of safe computing. (something I think should be taught in schools)

Hmm.. all free ones aren't great on the resources.. the best free scanners are:

AntiVir Classic edition
AVG Free Edition
Avast!

My personal favorite out of these is AntiVir, second to that is AVG and Avast.. eats alot of resources, and it isn't very good scanning.

For active virus protection try AVG or Avast. For just scanning and removing virus files, try bitdefender. Links on my 360 blog.

Hi, there maybe something virus with your IE.

i recommand you to try firefox. which is more safe than IE.

it can block that annoying ads and disable any virus on webpage. as you know, most virus are spread through internet.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.

Avast is an excellent free anti virus program.
search for Avast, then download and install it.
Also consider "Spy - Bot search and destroy: and "Ad-Aware" from Lavasoft.com
