I believe there must be other types of 'life' out there. I mean, the moon has craters that may have had water at some point. There could have been life there, before the earth had humans living on it.
The universe is endless (which always boggles my mind!) so why shouldn't there be other forms of life? I can't see why we as humans should be so full of ourselves that we believe we're the only things in the whole universe.

The word Alien is such a powerful word... Alot of people think aliens are those weird characters that you see in Cartoons and stuff..... To me an Alien is any type of life living out of this planet..... It would only be stupid to think were the only life force on the Universe... Maybe some people are just to scared to look into the truth..... Or maybe our teachings want you to think there green things because the "Truth about other life force" must be hidden to keep an even balance in this world...

Why is this question under mythology? This is astronomy or science, or perhaps even religion - I'm sure there are a few fanatics that would love to give you their input. And it has been asked 10 trillion times, but I will answer anyways.
YES - somewhere in this vast universe chemical compounds have come together under the exact right circumstances and life came to be, and evolved - but I don't know to what degree. I would like to hope that there are more intelligent species out there than humans. We must be the bottom of the barrel. After we exterminate ourselves, hopefully a better species rises up from the ashes.

Yes, I believe there is other life and intellegence in the Universe. I mean, think about it ...if Earth was the only planet with spirits having a human experience wouldn't that be a really big mass of wasted space in all the Galaxies? Surely there's other life forms for spirits to take and learn from. Suggestion: Read "The Celestine Prophecy" ..an adventure written by James Redfield. You should be able to get the book from your local library if not, they can order it for you.

Its a question we have all wondered about, and for now nobody knows. Life is such an amazing process, it took so many turns to get to what it is here, now--mammals never had to evolve, the mitochondria never had to migrate into cells, sexual reproduction never had to originate, but it all did, and here we are. Life in space could have taken (in fact it probably did take) different turns and would be in totally different forms, if it exists at all, and it could have come and gone millions or even billions of years ago elsewhere. A good question, I wonder about it too. It sure would be interesting to meet up with alien life.

Do you really think that out of all the planets in the universe this is the only one that is capable of stustaining life? It's absurd to think that. Mars in our own solar system was at one point did have life on it. They were just micro organisms. So yes there is. Astronomers actually came up with this idea and not alien fanatics.

It all depends upon what you mean by "life" and "out there." If by "life" you mean walking, talking bipeds like ourselves - possible, but possibly not in this galaxy. Remember, "Life" can be thought of as an aemoeba, or bacteria and I'm sure there are planets out there in this galaxy that fall into that category. It would be very egotistical of us to think that we're the only life of any kind in this galaxy. Also, it is possible other life forms are not dependant upon oxygen as we are - there could be chlorophyll-based life - god knows what else. And that's just in this galaxy.
Considering the billions of galaxies in the universe, there is little doubt there are lifeforms "out there" and I'd be willing to bet that many of them are walking, talking biped humanoids just like us. Since intergalactic travel is the stuff of science fiction novels and movies we'll probably never know since contact is highly unlikely.
So what does that leave us with in this galaxy? Either very inferior life forms such as bacteria or life forms that are dramatically different than us and chances are many of them are far more advanced than we are. Will we ever make contact with them? If they're more advanced than we are, they might look up upon us the way we look upon an ant. Then again, they might have seeded this planet and are our ancestors. Something to think about.

Yes
Why do I think this way?
It is somewhat narcissistic to think we are the center of the universe.Until 1492 we though if you sailed off the horizon you would fall off the earth. The universe is a vast place in which life does exist .Do I think beings exist that look like the ones in the movies NO.I think there are other humanoids of some sort out there.Life on earth exists because of our distance from the sun therefore out of the billions and billions of stars there has to be at least one place.

To assume we are the only life in the universe, would be just a little arrogant of us we are nothing but a grain of sand on the beach when com paired to the universe. This planet was created by God who is supposed to be perfect, well he sure screwed this place up so maybe he thought he could do better elsewhere. And if evolution is the case then to assume that it could only happen here well that to would be just a little stupid to assume that as well.

There might be life in other galaxies, I mean, Earth can't be the only planet in the universe to sustain intelligent life. Who knows, we could have another Star Wars going on in another galaxy and we won't know it. :}. However, the conception of aliens as wee see them are stereotypes and if there are any aliens out there, they won't look like we made them, out to be. If any life comes from another galaxy someday to visit us, I hope it's friendly.
