What is the easiest and cheapest way to get the game running without spending a load of money. I will be replacing the laptop at Christmas, should I just wait until then?

Try it anyways, it may run slow but it should probably still run.

If it doesn't work try turning down the graphics settings, it should also make it run faster if it works.

Its probably time to think about investing in a new laptop soon anyways. Judging by the videocard its probably around a Pentium1 and for a couple hundred bucks it could be incresed 30 fold easily.

And no you cant upgrade laptop video cards as they are usually onboard and upgrading anything in a laptop is usually out of the question unless its removeable.

All in all I'd just got find another chess game to play untill christmas or use a different computer. Best of luck!

Have you actually tried playing the game?

Whilst the graphic card may only have 8mb it is likely your computer will be able to use some of the available RAM on you laptop to enable the game to be played.

If the game doesn't play then wait until Xmas.

Well if chess is that important, then just buy a larger card. 8mb is really, really, small. 256mb is acceptable for most modern pc's, but your tight on money, so just pick up a larger card.
