I've answered a similar question before- I don't think there's an answer.
Lots of people like birds and/or reptiles, while I don't really care for them. They might say that they are the best pets, but I would disagree. Other people say dogs, but for people with a busy schedule or not much money wouldn't be able to properly take care of one, and therefor it wouldn't be the best pet for them.
Which also brings up the question- what do you mean by "best"? Most interactive? Most attractive? Least expensive?
Cats are great animals, but they need their own space and aren't always the best or most tolerate pet for children. Ferrets are fun but can take a lot of work and can get into almost anything. Small animals like hamsters are easy to take care of, but sleep quite a lot.
It all just depends on one's individual lifestyle and what they're looking for. I work at a pet store and get questions like these all the time- "What should I get for my child?", "I'm looking for a new pet..." etc. etc. And I always ask them what they want from their pet, and then how much time do they expect to spend with it and taking care of it, as well as how much money.

roaches man the could live through biological warfare :)
im just playing i would never have roaches as pets i would have to say a good obeadent doge that knows its commands and doesnt act dumb

my favorite animals are dogs but if you are into small animals then mice are really cool i have had 4 of them and they are so cute. hamsters are really cool to i didn't really like the gerbils thought they are cute though
