Get the book 100 things Japanese. It's old, (1970's) but it's informative enough to still be useful today.
Usually language learning products will teach you little cultural snapshots that are interesting.
Try making Japanese Friends (who know enough English to answer your questions--trust me, they would LOVE to knwo you're interested in their culture.)
Visit sites. (these ones are pretty good)
