Do your job everyday so that you can look back on your time at work with a clear conscience. If you can, then you don't have to worry about this guy "tattling" on you. You'll be above reproach. Continue working at whatever you're doing if he approaches you to chat. He'll either waste time talking while you're working, or he'll get the hint and move on to someone else to have his conversation.
Always be kind to him. Again, be above reproach. Like one other person recommended, kill him with kindness. The fact is, unless one of you gets a new job any time soon, you are stuck with this work relationship whether you like it or not. Best to make it as pleasant as you can on your end. And for heaven's sake, don't talk about him with your other co-workers... if it gets around to your boss, even if what you are saying is 100% true, it casts you in a light of pettiness and immaturity... moreso than your co-worker, so keep you lips zipped.
Good luck.

First of all, a guy or rather a male type of this nature couldn't do my type of work. Secondly, "he" and I use this loosely, couldn't suck up to others where i work. I would advise you to ask him out on a shopping date... buying candles and then take him to the bar or place where you hang out and then hang him out to dry like he obviously has you at some point. He'll be ringing his hands in anticipation of leaving but guess what... you drove... all he can do is resort to calling the fat nurse but she is at work!!!

Be cordial, exchange pleasantries, and stay away from him as much as possible. And NEVER say anything in front of him you don't want on the front page of the New York Times! Good rule of thumb: steer as clear as you can of office gossip.

Tell him his nose is brown from kissing a$$ so often. Tell him he is a sorry worker and ask if he wants you to tattle on him.

I wouldn't tell him anything. I would ignore him as much as possible. He's looking for attention and he is very immature. He's just board and likes to make problems for anyone who volunteers be a target.

just be as sweet as can be and do not ever tell this guy about anything that is going on in the office. Do not gossip with him, keep everything very professional.

Use his tattling as a way to get him fired. Misinformation can be a great weapon.
