The Cape Wind Project would construct 130 wind turbines in a 24 square mile area of Nantucket Sound.

The project could supply 75% of the electricity needs for Cape Cod and the islands of Nantucket and Martha"s Vineyard.

It is backed by Greenpeace, the Sierra Club, the Union of Concerned Scientists and the Natural Resources Defense Council.

It is also supported by 80% of the Massachusetts residents.

The Kennedys like to protray themselves as Environmentally Friendly but seem to act in unfriendly manners when it comes to protecting the Environment.

They fly in chartered jets, drive Large limousine type vehicles, own multitudes of large mansions and seem to think that peons should be concerned about the environment but not themselves.

I am a conservative... and I find the Kennedy's political viewpoints objectionable, but this time they have a reason. The noise pollution from the current wind farm technology is horrendous. While this is one of the best locations in the US for a windfarm but it is not the best if you own property, fish, or sail in that area.

That having been said... nuke power is the way to go... quiet and no objectionable emissions... except that pesky radioactive waste... but dealing with that is better then listening to those New England liberals whine about wind farms.

Kennedy opposed the Cape Wind project because the wind turbines would be built in Nantucket Sound, about six miles off the coast from the Kennedy compound in Hyannis.

The problem was not aesthetic; the Kennedys wouldn’t be able to actually see the turbines from their home. Instead Robert Kennedy Jr., who had been beating the drum for alternative sources of energy for more than a decade, complained that the project would be built in one of the family’s favorite sailing and yachting areas.

As with what every democrat does they are hypocrites. They want the projects in your yard not theirs. They are ignorant of the facts, and couple that with the fact they are all drunks and druggies and you can pretty well figure out what they are.

While the Kennedy's hide their fortune in off shore accounts, they will tax you to death to pay for their failed social programs.

In short: typical politicians who have never had a job.

It is a simple answer. For years the Kennedy's were thought of as America's Royalty. As such they do not want their area ruined (to their minds) by something that would be good for the earth. It is okay to do this somewhere else, but not near them. It would ruin their view, their yachting, their fishing, their flying, etc.
