I live in the middle east and you might be surprised, but a lot of foreign people live here too and have never complained... My English teacher at school is from Texas and when he tells people where he teaches they are shocked! they keep asking him if anybody tried to blow him up or something... He replied "There are people who've blown me away, blown me off but I have never been blown up"

As a matter of fact, I'm visiting the Middle East right now. It's an excellent place. I'm in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai to be specific. It's gorgeous. The beaches are beautiful, and the hotels are amazing. As are the nightclubs. The food here is simply wonderful. I dislike all the prejudice surrounding the Middle East. Just because there is some political unrest doesn't necessarily make the place dangerous or ugly. In fact, in the UAE, the opposite is true. Underwater hotels are in the process of being built in Dubai. The world's first indoor ski slope is in Dubai. Does that sound bad to you? In answer to your question, the Middle East is more than a nice place. It's a gorgeous place, and I highly recommend visiting.

I agree w/ the heart person and "AIRQ8". Ive heard that Dubai is a really beautiful place w/ gorgeous hotels and beaches frm friends who have been there, and so I do want to go there once! Ive heard Egypt is pretty cool too, my dad has been there. so I really want to go there too! and yes the media does not show u everything, some parts of the middle east are really beautiful. and USA is not at war w/ the whole middle east, its just Iraq. Im not saying that u should go there rite now but nothing would happed to u if u went to UAE or somewhere!

no b/c the middle east and america are still at war. and just for being an american you could be killed or taken capture and used as a hostage. at least wait until everything cools down in the middle east before going over there.

Sure, why not? There's plenty of places to visit and things to do in the world. The middle east has its own unique charm.

No... no and no. I would suppose that once upon a time it was a nice place. With all the hatred and unrest in the Middle East I could not imagine it is a peaceful place. Very sad.

well i lived my whole life in the middle east. ive lived in dubai, uae the first 15 years of my life and its heaven except that its really humid. i currently live in jordan its connected with the borders of iraq, syria , lebanon and palestine.and its completely peaceful here . ive also been to palestine several times, its my country of orgin and i have family there . its absolutely beautiful and i loved it there and i cant wait to go back. even though palestine specifically the city of nablus in the west bank was raided and attacked by israel every night i didnt have a single fear in my heart . no body is afraid over there , they're so used to it. nobody's afraid of dying because we all believe if we die under enemy gunfire we die as martyrs and go to heaven and thats the biggest strength and pride of a palestinian. thats the difference between palestinians and israelis.

You do know that it's a huge geographical area encompassing several countries don't you...?! So you can't generalise about it.

I've been to two Middle Eastern countries. I love Egypt - lots of fun and friendly people. I really want to go to the Emirates, Jordan and lots of other places.

If, by middle east, you mean WV, VA, NC, TN, KY, etc, I live in Virginia, part of the middle east of the United States. If you mean where the wars are ongoing, not in my life. Might be a nice place, but NO THANKS!
