anywhere in the UK is fine, there is not that much segregation in the UK as in the USA to make things clear. However recent african immigrants tend to live more in South London than in other parts of London, but it's not any rule. I wouldn't suggest south london though, I'd say in Camden is coolest as it has a legacy of Afro-Caribbean culture which you may be most familiar with, but then again, why should I assume that you need to hang out with British Afro-Carribbeans. So choose the place you live based on where you work, what clubs or bars you want to go most often and your budget, just like everyone else!!

I can't help thinking you've got race relations in mind. I don't think white english people are as racist as white americans (though that might be my prejudice).

Other than the race issue you'll probably find the english rather reserved compared to americans. They might seem unfriendly at first but you should give them time and be cool with them. Then they will be friendly enough given time.

I don't think it should be a problem. You never know until you try.

Yeah shouldn't be a problem. If it's racial issues you're worried about then don't. Black people have very few problems, you're more likely to be discriminated against because you're an american rather than your colour, and even that's not likely.

Yep. Americans I have met say the UK is less colour-conscious than the USA, especially the bigger cities. Come over and see for yourself.
