I guess that would be the definition of a geek. But you should be proud of your intelligence, and not be swayed by anybody's opinions.

No, geeks are carnival performers that bite the heads off of chickens or snakes.

You're probably not a nerd, either. A nerd is one of the animals from the Dr Seuss book, "If I Ran the Zoo".

Maybe you're a dork. Do you tend to pull when the sign on the door clearly says "Push"? Do you try to open the wrong door (out of a double door) when the sign clearly says "Use other door"?

Liking science and math (and being good at them, no less) usually makes you essential to society, which in turn tends to make you fairly well paid with a comfortable life.

When you say you are not popular, do you mean that no body likes you? or that not everyone likes you?

If not everyone likes you, some people do like you. That is normal. We can't all like or be liked by everyone.

If you think no one likes you, you may have a problem. It may be untrue, but you may be withdrawing from people. There may have been some bullying going on. People can be cruel, but remember it is usually their own insecurity.

Don't brood about it. Try to be positive, get on with the things you enjoy, remember you won't be at school for ever.

Don't worry about labels like "geek". They are ignorant. You may be what some people call a geek, but so what? BE TRUE TO YOURSELF,and carry on doing well.

Being popular is for the mediocre students. Be proud of your intelligence. Celebrate being a "geek". Befriend other "geeks' & "nerds". Above all, be glad you are unique and not one of the crowd.

There is nothing wrong with liking math and science as this is the world we live in.

However, people are sociable creatures. Success in our lives depends heavily on our social skills much more than knowledge. If you are still in high school and good with math and science, you should try focusing on language arts and history classes plus hang-out with "cool" kids every once in a while so you can learn to interact better with superiors and subordinates once you are in the working world.

* of course "cool" doesn't refer to drugs, illegal activities, trashy girls, etc. You may find that the kids in sports, etc. are learning a great deal about social interactions.

Just getting A's all the time does not mean you won't be popular. We must look at our attitudes and try and see the way others perceive us. Maybe sometimes we are overly sensitive, and other time some people are simply rude.
Finally, what wrong with "geek" ?

You are just above average intelligence and maybe gifted. You might do more social things in clubs. Add some physical exercise like track, gymnastics, something. This will help your intellect and round your personality.
Once you get to Cal Tech, MIT, etc. you maybe right at home and very popular.
With a good Bio tech job, you will be well off compared to the jocks and princesses.

You sound like a 4.0 student who cares about your education. As for being a geek, it's only so if you believe it is. If others want to hang that label on you, let 'em. The only thing it proves is that they are judgmental, small minded people, and probably getting buy only because the curve is low in their classes.

no, you're just more academic than social. I was the same way in high school; made all A's and I was especially good in English and history but everybody thought I was a nerd...I made some close friends though, and they stood behind me and to this day I'm still making good grades in college while those people who made fun of me in high school are still trying to establish or find themselves. Just keep being who you are, don't try to change yourself to fit in with others because in the end, when you've got a good career and happiness, it'll be worth it...

So in response to your question, no, you're not a geek or nerd, you're just one step ahead of the game of life...keep it up and best of luck in your future endeavors!

Yep sorry dude, its just the way it works for people who like us who science. A nerd is someone who enjoys science, BUT a geek is someone who is considred socially absent and only a little bit interested in science.
