good animators can get paid very well. sounds like your brother is trying to convince you not to persue a career in art. tell him to mind his own business--if you feel the need to be creative you should give it a try.

the animators and the junior concept artist earn about $40,000 a year.
Sooo... yeah... that's like barely just getting by..
however if you are good and get promoted into an art director or, even better, a production designer than you can earn $100/hour (for big company).
