The Bryan twins, and any other top doubles teams.
Just because Federer and Nadal are ranked #1 and 2 respectively, in singles. It doesn't mean that they'll translate into a #1 doubles team. It's a totally different game.
Speaking of translation, Nadal probably wouldn't understand what Federer is saying half the time anyway, and communication is key in doubles.

Almost any good pro doubles team would beat them. Doubles is completely different than singles in every way. Doubles is about getting to the net and finishing off points. Federer and Nadal are mainly baseline players. Also, it would take a year or two for them to create any on-court chemistry as a doubles team, especially considering that Nadal's english skills are shaky at best and neither of them understands the other's native language. Any of the top 20 doubles teams in the world would beat them, hands down. They are both so good at singles, switching to doubles would ruin their careers.

I agree that doubles, and teamwork, has to be practiced. The top two singles players don't automatically make the top doubles teams, even in Davis Cup situations.
I admit, though, that it would be fun to see them play doubles together at some point. For one, they could both play the forehand side, as Fed is righty and Nadal is lefty. I think that's an advantage. As far as the language barrier, I would minimize that, as there have been successful international doubles and mixed doubles teams. It's not as if Nadal does not understand any English, and there is a lot of non-verbal communication in tennis.

Many teams can beat them. Just because they are ranked 1 and 2 in the world, doesn't make them a top flight doubles team. The top 2 doubles teams in the world would run them off the court...the Bryan brothers, and Max Miryni-Jonas Bjorkman. Make the the top 10 doubles teams would beat them easily as well.....it takes team chemistry to make a good team, and Federer probably has more versatility in his game than Nadal, but I don't see them being a great team.

First of all it's quite unlikely.,And for the unlikely I think Leander Paes and Martin Damm or Bob and Mike Bryan because they are all excellent doubles players. However we know Federer is not a great doubles player. He was defeated by the Indian duo of Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupati in Atens. So it might not necessarily be a top dounles team but anyone who could beat Federer-Nadal duo.
But I would never want Rafa to team up with Federer

Feds' is pretty good at doubles. He played mixed with Hingis at least once or twice. I don't know about Nadal. Personally, I'd be waiting for one of them to give the other a Nancy-Kerrigan-esque sort of "accident."
Honestly, though, the Bryan brothers have the twin-thing going on. They're practically psychic.

Reminds me of this show I saw on my computer in Japanese...two good players in singles playing doubles. Two great players in singles doesn't mean that they're dominant in doubles...Both of them wouldn't cooperate since they're kind a like rivals. But the Bryan brothers would beat them, probably badly...

Just because they are good singles players does not mean they can be a good team to play doubles.
