it says on it to use dexron. but I sucked some out with a tube and the liquid looks light brown, like brake fluid. are these mixable in the power steering? or should I just use dot 3 brake fluid.

don't use brake fluid..and Automatic Transmission Fluid & power steering fluid are close cousins. But one should not substitute pwr steering for ATF. bad idea. subbing ATF for pwr steering is fine.

Almost any fluid will work. You should use whats recommended though. Most transmission fluid would work.
