Such as what is going on in the middle east now. There is a big picture and our representatives don't seem to see it. Bush should be getting our top negotiators to have talks with the numerous countries involved... use diplomacy now rather than weapons later... How do politicians so easily lose their humanity?

Their survival is dependent on the highest bidder. Logic and humanity can be bought, unfortunately. It's easy for us on the outside to criticize (and I do), but I think since all of the politicians are in the same club, the peer pressure leads them down only one path.

As elections in the USA are largely bought, whichever candidate that can raise the most funds by promising their allegiance to big business will be put forward by their party, and the most corrupt candidate from the two parties will have raised the most funds, and will produce the biggest campaign to discredit/cheat his opponent, and will be elected president.

A government of the people, by the people, and for the people, I think not.

Dubya policies are not new:-

“Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”
Hermann Göring 1946 Nuremberg Trials (Nazi)

The US Government has lied about many wars. The increase of troops in Vietnam was based on an attack in the Tonkin Gulf that never happened. Some say that Roosevelt knew about Pearl Harbor and let it happen to get support to join World War Two. The Spanish-American War (Remember the Maine!) was also based on a hoax.

Not to mention the numerous covert wars that they lied about. Iran-Contra, the overthrow of Mossadegh in Iran, Allende in Chile, Arbenz in Guatemala. Also the war in Panama, against someone who was on the payroll of the CIA. Cuba as well. The Bay of Pigs invasion was supported by the CIA, and the people who invaded were trained by the CIA in Guatemala.

Also, after reading what Dubya's puppeteers had to say in 2000;-
"Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor"
Project for the New American Century (2000)

It brings into question 9/11/(2001), which was never investigated properly, and has been hijacked in order to enact Dubya's agenda and the subsequent illegitimate wars.

I do agree with Dubya on one thing:-

"I think one way for us to end up being viewed as the ugly American is for us to go around the world saying, "We do it this way. So should you."
"I think the United States must be humble and must be proud and confident of our values, but humble in how we treat nations that are figuring out how to chart their own course."
George W. Bush - 2nd presidential debate Oct 11th 2000

All politicians are of a "mind-set" that makes them prone to "selling out" and given over to expediency. To be safe, despite "the loss" of potentially good statesmen like Obama (et.al.) We might do well as a nation to "clear the slate" of all incumbents and prohibit them from running again for at least one term. The problem is the entrenchment of the "old guard" at Capitol Hill, and we will NEVER see REAL election reform and the abolition of the corrupting lobbyists - and all that this "industry" brings with it, until we create a public referendum to do just that and "start fresh." They are more concerned with lining their coffers for the upcoming election than of challenging the "lack of action" from the executive branch... And, it ain't gonna change until we PROHIBIT organized political parties from operating for an eight year period... even four years would give us a fighting chance to erode the foundations of the entrenched "two-party" system in this country. Until such a time, we will ALWAYS be 'victim' to the electoral college as well. the part of the election process needs to be officially "put in it's place" (for emergency use only). I can't believe that these OBVIOUS STEPS to sanity in goverment aren't being taken!!! As a people, we are so tooth-pickin' complacent & plain-a$$ stupid, as to appear ludicrous to the rest of the world... I'm sure we're the "standing joke" in the whole of Europe...

I was disappointed Secretary Rice has no plans to go to the Middle East to mediate the situation and involve moderate Arab nations. Power, then greed cloud the minds of our politicians and some look out for their own jobs instead of what's good for the nation. We're too preoccupied with Iraq and dropped the ball on this one.

As I said many times on this site, it is in their drinking water ... they may start off as normal, but then begin to take on an abnormal and greedy transformation once they get hit with the seed of power.
