I would think that the only jobs that would be either legally unable to or really unlikely to hire someone with a drug felony would be a hospital, pharmacy, etc. I would say apply for anything you are remotely qualified for and be honest, many will still be willing to hire someone with a criminal background.

Some employers only do local record checks...meaning they do not run a "national record" which shows any crime that is a felony (if you have been fingerprinted...thats a tell-tell sign)
If you are lucky to get thru the system this way, make sure to keep yourself clean and work your butt off..if you have an item that is on your record, it may be worth your while to have the recored expunged if the judge/court systems allow this ...it does cost money, but may be well worth it in the long run...especially if its something that happened while you were a juvenile, or many years ago

People still do Drugs? They've just changed the laws here that just having contact with someone who does drugs can get you arrested. Seems the body makes some chemical to clean the drugs out your system and if they find that chemical in you, they can charge you. Grunt Work may still be an option, but more and more places are under pressure to show that have a working Anti-Drug Policy. You can always go back to school and become a Drug Counselor.

Try ALL jobs, just be honest on your application, and explain in detail your situation, let them know that you have learned from the situation, and have moved on. It's almost impossible to get hired anywhere and the company not do a background check. Otherwise you may want to go back to school (or) take a trade and open your business, and work for yourself.
In any case, weigh your options, and remember a HONESTY is key.
Good Luck...

You might look for your local employment office through the state to see if they have any programs. Some states have bonding and other programs to entice employers to hire ex-offenders. Most importantly, don't do drugs or put yourself in a position to get in trouble again.

You would be surprised, and I am totally serious. You actually could get a job in law enforcement if you have cleaned up your act. Community Policing is always in desperate need of creating a better image. Public relations mandates a balance, and can use someone of your knowledge to help keep young people straight.

Is there any possibility of a pardon? In Canada, one can get a pardon (or equivalent) after about 5 years for many offences and only the most serious offences, ten years.
