We have so many homeless people that it breaks my heart. Yes, I've given my last dollar away to a homeless person. People do not choose to live like that (most don't) and it is extremely sad to me.

It depends. If I am in the US, then I very, very rarely give any money to beggars. However, there have been times when I have been in foreign countries (like Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Morocco) where I have given change to beggars. There are two reasons I have done this: I feared for my safety and/or I recognized that they were truly destitute and absolutely depended on charity for sustenance, due to a lack of social services in their own country.

No, I'd give a beggar a sandwich or a coupon for food at McDonald's though.

If I give a beggar money, he will want to use it for drugs or alcohol or some similar way of making himself go downhill even faster.

Most beggars eat out of garbage cans outside of restaurants, etc. They don't care if the food is served on clean white dishes or not.

They usually beg for money to feed their addictions. That's why you rarely see them begging in front of cafes.

But, If you feel compelled to give money to them because you think they will buy food with it, first, go buy them some food and watch what they do then.

No, but I will take them to the grocery store or to a restaurant to get something to eat. Money has the tendancy to burn a hole in ones' pockets, and send people to places that aren't good for them, leaving them worse off than before. Then, I'll find out why they're begging and see what I can do to help them not beg anymore, like finding them a job or something. What's the point in just giving them money? It won't change their situation. They'll just be back at it again as soon as they spend the money. When you give someone a sense of purpose, their whole life turns around. <*)))><

Its good to help others in their time of need, but when you have ALL of your limbs and you are walking and evidently know how to ask for change Im not giving it to you because that just shows that you are a lazy *** bum and you dont want to get a job. However if you are missing an arm or a leg, or if you are poor on the street with innocent babies, then I would be more than happy to give you my spare change.

I have in the past but I have given so much money away I finally just started giving it to charity instead of people on the street. I tell them where the local shelter is, and if they really need food, clothing or shelter they can get it. I don't have a problem buying them something to eat or drink, but I stopped handing out money because I can't tell where it is going and I don't want to support an alcohol or drug habit.

No, I do not give change to those who are begging. I will however, find a restaurant and purchase them some food. I have even taken the person to the local catholic charities for assistance if I felt safe.

The one time I did give money I seen that person take ethe money and purchase illegal drugs. I was so upset with myself.

Yes,i would give a chance to a begger but if you know that person is up to no good then no but if you really don't know the person then sure give him or her a chance but if someone is obsess with you a little to much then i don't know cause if you do go out with that person and its not working out and he or she is obsess with you then it could be a danger to you or that person so i don't know all i know is to just watch that person carefully just be friends for a while and see were it gets you.
