We were taught to hunt and fish in my family when we were children. We were also taught if you took a life it had better be for food. Trophy hunting and thrill seeking by taking a life I don't approve of.

I don't like the idea of hunting just for the thrill. But I live in Wisconsin, and hunting is a vital part of this State.
Deer Hunting controls the population of the deer herd in this state. Otherwise the deer would starve from the over-population, not to mention add to the hundreds of accidents on Wisconsin roads each year (many of them fatal)caused by people hitting them on the highways. It also provides income to the tourist industry here, as tens of thousands of people come into our state each year to hunt. And the majority of the hunters either have the meat butchered for themselves, or donate the meat to a local food kitchen to give people without money for food something to eat.
So while I don't think it makes you a hypocrite because you eat meat and don't like animals being killed for sport, perhaps you should consider that many hunters don't just kill for sport.
I hope this was helpful for you.

I think hunting is wrong when someone kills an animal and leaves it laying. Hunting is ok if someone sells or eats the meat from the animal. This is a good thing because it prevents overpopulation of animals. Also it reduces the chances of animals out in the wild suffering and dying of starvation due to overpopulation.
If you disagree with my point, you would be a hypocrite because the food that you are eating came from animals that were killed and if you are truly opposed to this, you need to become a vegetarian.

You would be a hypocrite for hating people who eat what they
kill.
Evolutionarily, Homo sapiens (Humans) are omnivores.
We eat meat (as well as other stuff) - at least, given a
variety of foods to chose from and no prior direction, we will
eat meat.
(No offense here to vegatarians, but they need to recognize
that they are varying from their species natural diet for
whatever reason. It is perfectly "natural" to like meat. Its
also reasonable to come to the conclusion that you don't want
to live with blood on your hands, but you're also setting yourself
up for a life time of supplemental vitamins, etc)
That doesn't mean we have to enjoy killing for the sake of
killing. Does a wild predator kill things without at least
trying to eat them? Well, OK, maybe its a forced analogy.
Does a wild predator have a conscience?
I think I would probably have a hard time eating something
that I had grown up with (the family bull), but that only means
that I respect the people who can live with this dichotamy.
And if I was hungry enough, yes, I could feed, slaughter and
eat the bull too. Fortunately, I can leave that to others.
I despise people who kill only for the sake of the chase.
If you want to chase critters across the camera side go
grab a camera and contribute to the world of beauty,
not the world of dead things hanging off a wall.

It doesn't make you a hypocrite because the animals you eat are meant for food, they weren't killed just for the hell of it.
I think it's disgusting that people hunt game animals for fun. It's so sadistic.

Not all people hunt for the sake of it. My family hunts to get the meat. We have a purpose to hunting, as it is a main source of meat for us!

Ugh....yeah.
Meat is meat, sweety. Chickens are raised in a wire cage that they cannot even walk around in just to give you eggs.
The early settlers could not "buy" meat at the market. So they killed what they had to eat.
I agree that "sports" killing is wrong.
My motto: If you're gonna kill it, it needs to be eaten or it better had been trying to kill you". This does not apply to bugs..................

i think killing animals for food is not bad, but to kill animals just for a hobby or for fun is wrong. The food chain is nature, but when you just like shooting innocent aniamls, thats just sad
