Have you ever thought you were great at something, and then later on ..in comparison..you find out you are just average?

Of course I have.
No matter how good and fast you are at something,eventually there is someone better than you

Well it may seem that way only because you might find yourself within the circle of people who are better than you in that area.

I often thought I was good at playing basketball until I went to go play a game with a bunch of semi-pro athletes. At that point I thought I was really terrible. I failed to remember that I was still better than everyone else in my neighborhood.

That's not finding out "you aren't as good as you thought." That's finding out "you were a conceited ***** and needed to be taken down a few notches." Congratulations, you deserved it. I just hope you learned something.

Wow, you just came to terms with maturity. You will continue to grow as a person as a result. Congrats. You really cant grow until one comes to terms with the fact that there is always somebody else better, smarter, and better looking than ourself.

But I heard the greatest accomplishments have come right after the worst failures, so don't give up.

yeah she told me i was the best for years..
untill i cought her in the act....he was hung like a kentucky derby race horse...i was terrified cuz of the noise she was making i thought someone was killing her .
turns out than buck had a fresh back and a power toll. and from the look and sound of it he knew how to use it

As others mentioned, it may seem that you are "just average" because your reference group has changed not necessarily because you are not better than average.

Yes - often.
If it doesn't happen often, and if you don't try to ensure it doesn't happen again - - you're not trying hard enough.
