I was born in the 50's. So, of that era I miss my childhood in a carefree time. You never heard of child molesters, and we children were free to roam the neighborhood without fear. I walked to school (no buses) and roller skated at the village park (yes, with a skate key!)
Of the 60's, I miss the political activism. We don't seem to have that anymore. It created a lot of energy and a lot of change - witness the civil rights movement and the women's movements. We should burn more bras and have more sit-ins. We didn't consider those movement leaders "terrorists" although they'd be labeled that nowadays, no doubt.
Of the 70's - ah, my college days! I miss the music mostly. I miss hitchhikers. Yes, picking them up and being one. A lot of servicemen hitchhiked on and off base, and of course, college students hitchhiked everywhere!
The good old days! Thanks for the memories CuriousGeorge!

You are talking about three distinct periods.
The 50's were an age of innocence. There was general hope and optimism that the future would always be better for everyone. On the flip side, there was the red menace and the fear of nuclear war.
The 60's were a time of changing attitudes. The innocence and optimism of the 50's was fading. Mass demonstrations and riots came to the US.
The 70's were a tumultuous period. Demonstrations, riots, gas shortages. America lost it's innocence and it's optimism for the future.
I don't miss anything from the 60's and 70's. I do miss the America of the 50's.

The 50's and 60's I don't know, I wasn't around. About the 70's I miss polyester doubleknit track suits with three stripes down the side and bell bottoms. I miss that my old neighbourhood was inhabited by normal, middle income people before housing prices went sky high and all the yuppies took over. I miss laughing at the crazy people disco dancing on TV.

Don't remember 50's, too young to know much except goofing off in elementarty and junior high in the 60's but loved the music, ahh the 70's - high school (hated it) great music, concerts, not adult cares or problems, free spirt to go and do what I wanted.

Since I was born in the 70's, as I remember I used to watch these shows:
Good Times
The Jeffersons
All in the Family
Bob Newhart
Tonight Show with Johnny Carson
TVLand still shows these classics that brings back those good memories that I truly cherish.
