When we moved into our newly purchased home, the bathroom was a mess. I used Scrub Free on the tiles and then took an old towel to the tiles to "buff" the soap scum away. Under the attached soap dish, there was an unvelievable amount of soap scum and I literally scraped it off with a razor. As far as hard water stains, I would repeat using CLR and perhaps with repeated use, the stains will disappear.

Um, WAIT,.......OK, it's in my hand--
right off the spray bottle, LYSOL, disinfectant, Mist Away,DAILY SHOWER CLEANER.
You spray it and LEAVE it!! No wiping or scrubbing, or rinsing! Except tha they recommend you start with a clean shower.
Reading this,......2-4 weeks to loosen build-up and clean your shower. It says, For Best Results, wipe immediately after showering. So, I'm figuring if you are not showering in it, yet, then you might want to put some elbow grease into it, anyway.
Sounds like you need to, especially if it's not your family's.

If you take the CLR and use a green pad like you clean pots with it will come off real easy, or use scrubbing bubbles and green pad.

use the same soap that caused the build up. It will eat itself up. Just desolve the soap in hot water and use it as a paste.

A product called "The Works" at Walmart. They also have one for getting lime buildup in toilets. You'll love it!

Detergent used for diswashers works great on tubs, scrub with a mop. Either sponge or cloth, then rinse well.
