Because they probably dont want to mess their hair up, and should never have bought 1 !! I drive my converatable in all weathers,, even without the top on,,, as for the sungalsses if the sun is high having no roof on, ,you get blinded by the sun as its lower in winter!!

1) When the temperature exceeds 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and the sun is scorching hot, it is more comfortable to have the Air Conditioner running. I'm considering a convertible, and would probably have the roof down when the temperature is between 60-85 degrees Fahrenheit. Currently, I have a sunroof, and will drive with it open even in winter, because I like the crisp, cool air. That's why I'm considering the VW Eos, because it has a sunroof and convertible hard top!

2) The sun is bright no matter what time of the year -- especially when it reflects off the snow! Also consider that the sun is lower in the sky during the winter months, so there is more sun glare. I have worn sunglasses when it's raining! sometimes the light can still be bright and my pupils constrict too much and it limits the contrast.

3) Many questions posted here are in multiple parts; I don't have a problem with it.

On a HOT(!) day you drive your convertible with the top up for shade from the hot sun. Roll up the windows and run the AC. The sun is just as bright in the winter. In fact, the sunshine can reflect off of the snow and increase it's intensity.

People drive with the top on to take advantage of the Air Conditioning.

People wear sun glasses in winter to block the sun's glare off of the white snow.

well, the roof is up to stop you being directly in the sun for a long period of time and also if the car is equipped with AC this helps. people wear sunglasses because althought it is winter it does not make the sun any less bright especially if it has snowed.
