I'm from Scotland and my girlfriend stays there, hence the reason why I wanna move there!!

I'm from UK but live in Houston (just off Westheimer/Gessner) as I work there - I've got a work visa sponsored by my employer [B1 in lieu of H1-B, not a green card, which is more permanenent - my company would have to sponsor it but my job's for about 2 years]. If only visiting just get the visa waiver and stay for 90 days at a time - trouble with that tho is that they're paranoid that you might be working so if you come in & out using the visa waiver you'll probably get grilled by immigration after a few trips - then it's up to you to be convincing.

If your girlfriend only stays there you want a visa, if you want to work you need a work permit. I think a Green Card is if you want to move there permanently.
