I've been trying for months to get included in the Yahoo directory with a perfectly good website that has no offensive subjects or items. I've come to the conclusion that even though Yahoo claims to have a free submission service, one cannot be included unless $300.00 is paid to Yahoo.

It is easy to check if yahoo has indexed your site. Just do a site specific search on your chosen keyword. My sites were indexed quite quickly and I never paid them a dime. More likely is that your site just is not unique and comprehensive enough to receive a high enough ranking to show up in the first few pages of search results. Also if you are using a lot of dynamic content based on user input, you will need to include a sitemap with links to content you want to be indexed.

Don't understand. Yahoo is free. I have friends in Yahoo. When I go to my list of contacts, their names and e-mail addresses appear with grayed-out smileys next to the name. If they are online at the time, the smiley lights up. I assume my name and e-mail shows up on their computers also.

Yahoo has a good support system. The link below is available through Yahoo help. It should let you e-mail Yahoo for an answer.

See if you can click on it or copy it to your address bar.

I have been a registered user for years and it didn't cost Me anything. You just get Your I.D. and password and You're there.
You have to give them some imfo about Yourself, but that's all.
