'Free Car Wash for Charity' by one group of kids.

'Car Wash $5 for Charity' by another group of kids 1/2 mile down the road.

Which Car wash would you go to and Why.

I'd go to the "Car Wash $5 for Charity". My thoughts:

The "Free Car Wash for Charity" leaves one feeling obligated to pay what they can afford. I am offended when people pull on the heart-strings of others using pity.

The "Car Wash $5 for Charity" is straight-forward advertising. You know what you are getting and how much it costs. There is no "begging" going on here. I want to donate $5. I want a car wash. Done.

The kids washing cars for free for charity need a charity for themselves. I don't see how it benefits them to wash cars, for no renumeration, and then give nothing for charity. They lose money also because they have to buy soap, buckets, find old rags, etc. Assuming that those items are donated, what then do they give to their charity for their labors?
I suppose I would go to the $5.00 charity. At least these kids are going to walk away with something tangible they can use to help someone. Unless I am completely missing the point, the kids with the "pay" car wash have the right idea. I've never heard of a charity event being done without a donation.

"For the same charity and everything is equal"...this still doesn't change my answer. Thanks for the question.

i would go to the one thats free and give them like $12 tip (because i would feel bad if there doing it for free) and then i would dirty my car and take it to the other car wash that cost $5 and give them a $7 tip.

i would only do that because their kids and their trying to earn money for something....i dont know what the other charity is trying to do by doing it for free.

I believe the ones doing it for free end up with people giving them more money. If the average car wash in town is 5.00 a lot of people would give more.
