'Free Car Wash for Charity' by one group of kids.

'Car Wash $5 for Charity' by another group of kids 1/2 mile down the road.

Which Car wash would you go to.

I would go to the one for $5.00 and would probably leave an additional tip.

The "free car wash" would be expecting donations to their charity and I would rather not have to make the decision of what is an appropriate amount to donate for their efforts.

I WOULD want to know the Charity BEFORE I gave them my money or let them wash my car. I only give to charities I "approve" of no matter what service they provide.

So... if they are washing cars to raise money for "Alien Abduction Recovery and Rehabilitation of Small Farm Animals"... I would have to think about how dirty my car really is.

Who is paying for the first carwash and how is it beneficial to charity? Do you have to buy something else? Somewhere they are going to ask you for something "for Charity".
I would choose the second one for $5 because they are upfront. NO hidden costs or expectations.
