The Tripod Triology, based on a 60-70's Sci-Fi book series and a 80's BBC TV series, could be really good if well made....

I know that its supposedly in preproduction (like it has been for like 10 years) but I will be one happy camper if/when Ender's Game (book by Orson Scott Card) is brought to the big screen. But part of me just wants to get that one out of the way so that they could make a movie version of "Speaker for the Dead".
I would also like to see "The Giver" (book by Lois Lowry), "In The Forests of the Night" or "The Silver Kiss" (either of which might breathe a little life back into the vampire genre), or maybe this little teenager-y book I read called "Guitar Girl" and while it was no masterpiece, it would make for good old girly movie fluff.

I would love to see a serious film concerning the guy who founded the University of Wyoming, but concentrating more on his adventure with bringing brides to the logging camps near Seattle way back when. They did a TV show of it in the sixties, but that wasn't remotely taken from fact, and I'd really like to see the dynamics that really motivated and transpired in that scenario of American expansion and history. That area of the country is also one that has been basically ignored in film involving those years, and I'd like to see a little truth.

I think a remake to 'Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?' should be done. The girl that played Nellie Olson on Little House on the Prairie should play the part.

George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, and Terry Goodkind's "The Sword of Truth" series. Oh yea, and also Raymond E. Feist's books about Midkemia and connected worlds.
