Being the best is purely a matter of opinion. You may be the best to one person but the worse to another. You can never please everyone.
I assume you mean popular as being well liked by many and wearing the latest fad clothing. Be nice to everyone, not to be popular, but to be a good person. If you are nice to everyone, you help people with their books when they drop them no matter where they are on the "scale of popularity", you will be well liked. Most people will like you and be more attentive to you when you need help. Say "Hello" and acknowledge people (no matter where on the "scale of popularity") because everyone likes to be noticed and acknowledged as well and being given the chance to state their opinion.
Be happy and do what you love, when others realize you are doing what you like and that you are happy and content with yourself then they will see you in a better light.
These things, of course, will not guarantee your popularity at your school, but you will be happier with yourself and you will also have made a positive difference in others lives'.

There is no way to defintely be popular. It's a huge cliche, I know, but the best thing to do is be yourself. So long as 'yourself' is not a serial killer or anything, obviously. If you try to be anything else, you'll only be miserable and that is a sure way to lose friends.
I'm not sure there really is such a thing as the best person in the school - just aim to be happy.

Sweetie, what's the best? Please, come to understand something right now, there will always be people more popular, prettier, smaller, larger, smarter, than someone else. We all have weaknesses and we all have strengths. Find out what yours are and rejoice in them. You have to be happy with yourself before others will be happy with you. You have to love yourself before others will, and you have to be kind to yourself first. Don't go through life wanting to please others and being the 'most'. Just be yourself, and take care of those you love. People are attracted to that.

to be popular you have to be skinny, rich, mean and preppy. oh, and you have to turn into a $lut. you have to shop at abercrombie and areopostale and hollister all the time. and you have to have long straight hair and your face has to be caked with makeup all the time.
doesn't sound very fun does it? being popular shouldn't be important. most of the so called popular people at my school have so much drama in their lives and they're all mean and skinny and rich and preppy and slutty. you don't want to be popular if you ask me.

to tell you the truth you dont want to be popular, popular people can be mean and ruin ppls life, if u want to be popular just be nice dont fall under pressure, u'll mess ur self up and u'll hate urself for it in the end and u can really hurt urself so be careful

Yes. Forget trying to be someone for everyone else. Be what you think is best and do what works for you. As your confidence grows and those around you begin to mature, they will notice that you are strong and independent. Anything else is just phony.

i guess you have to hang around the popular kids at your school...you know be in the quote on quote "in" crowd.....but you can be smart and be admired by most too.....
