Most affordable wireless routers do not have the analog modem needed to do what you want. You should be able to just run a phone cable upstairs to add a new extension. It is quite easy to do and can be installed in a such a way as to be unobstrusive.

You need broadband to set up wireless internet. The easiest solution for you would be to run a phone line upstairs and put in a jack.

I do not have a landline but i can have my puter anywhere in the house. I use www.w3z.co.uk, web without wires from Zycomm. I am not sure where you hail from so i would not be sure if the company would travel. This is Derbyshire where i'm at and this company are sooooooooo good. Sign up for 4yrs and you get instalation free, the lowest speed is plenty fast enough and it only costs me 10.99 a month,i can upgrade if i wish although the price obviousley goes up too. Maybe worth a look at the web site. Good luck!

Best Buy, Comp USA, any computer place really... but I dont recommend Wireless... we had wireless cable from COX for a while, and it kept on having crappy signals and breaking up in the middle of the day. however it may work for you, so yeah, any computer store would have it... good luck

All you need is a wireless router which you will install downstairs and a wireless card for your computer. You can get it anywhere they sell computer products.

If you're using a dial-up connection, you can't use wireless routers.
On the other hand, if you're using something like DSL, just search for "wireless router" at your favorite online store

is it a phone line connection or dsl/cable? if you have cable, the simple fix is to install a wireless router for less than $100, but I dont believe they make these for phone hookups. check radioshack, if this product is available, they will carry them.
