As a former owner of the '93 RX-7 R1 model I always took my toy only to a trained and certified Mazda repairman who has had extensive years of experience working with rotory engines. I do not recommend taking it to just any mom and pops garage, nor you working on it, having a friend make "genious" assessments, etc. The engine is rare and demands special attention versus the common engine available. Definatley look to your dealership and they can provide referrals to Mazda specialists in the area which can offer the same if not better work at a fraction of the cost.
