To the Americans this is a UK question so ignore EPA and US specific crap..

1. Diesel and veg oil mixture as is will muck your engine up very quickly. the veg oil needs to be converted into bio-diesel to work and involves caustic and methanol reflux in a still.

2. the still needs to be licenced by law and duty is paid on the bio-diesel produced at 50% of that on road diesel.

There isn't any laws on runing vegetable oil in cars as of yet. I'm sure as more people catch on there will be TONS of regulations put out by the government. So keep this on the down low!!! The resturants actully like it when you take away their greese, because they PAY for people to remove it, your just doing them a favor. Just ask the resturant first so you don't get any heat from anyone. Thank you for helping to save our planet. :)

i DON'T THINK THERE IS A LAW AGAINST IT, YET. i HAVE SEEN ALOT OF PEOPLE USE IT. BUT BE CAREFUL IT CAN RUIN YOUR ENGINE. BECAUSE WE USE BIODEISEL WHICH BURNS BETTER BECAUSE IT IS THINNER THAN OIL, AND CLEANS THE ENGINE. TRY MIXING WITH DIESEL, BUT STILL NOT GOOD UNLESS OIL IS IN A PROPERLY INSTALLED 2 TANK SYSTEM, 1 TANK WITH PREHEATEAT OILTHEN STARTS UP THEN SHUTS DOWN ON DIESEL. OR USE AN NATURAL ADDITIVE. BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT.

Nope, just make sure your car can handle running on vegetable oil. You will need to upgrade the fuel lines as biodiesel is a very good solvent. Your engine will be clean....

Are you talking about BIO-Diesel? If that is the case, there are no specific laws against it as long as the emisions conform to state laws.
