Here are my beliefs:

I believe religion is nothing more than a tool. Maybe I'm spiritual but I'm not a Christian.
I'm Pro-Choice.
I'm for gun registration and I love to hunt
I think we should kick the sh.it out of the Islamic radicals but don't trust the real reasons we're in Iraq. Afghanistan is OK.
Gay marriage makes my skin crawl but I don't hate queers.
Death penalty is good and should be used more.
I will quit paying taxes if reparations for former slaves are ever approved.
Clinton was a criminal and Bush is criminally stupid.

To whatever party is recommended the most, I will donate $100 to re-elect the reps of that party.

The reason you are in Iraq are the same as Korea, Vietnam,Afganistan, West Germany as a buffer to the defunct Soviet Union. Your country has for over 60 years defended the free world freedom, unfortunaly not always backed by the same people that your country was tryng to defend, so what, stay the course. Only DEMOCRAZY is able to create freedom and prosperity, history has taught us. Small detail:Saddam hussein did invade and occupied the soverein state of Qwait in the early ninties, before the American kicked him out. Not only he massacred innocent civilians, but torched all the oil wells of that country and robed them of anything of value. You have just one left to go that will be Iran the financier of the terroristic movement in the world, and you worse enemy. Unfortunaly there is no other country in the world with the moral standing and resolve to do this dirty work. So America thank you from the dippest of my heart for the sacrifice you have been doing to preserve our way of life, and forgive all those nations former beneficiary of your SOLDIERS sacrifices, that like traitors have turned their back on you like France, Germany and many others. If I were you I would'nt worry too much which party to belong, I would check their electoral program then decide, for in time of need they are both fervently Americans in the dippest sense. There are not many countries where you can call your Presidents with those epitaphs without thinking of the consequences. That is called FREEDOM.

Looks like you're REALLY straddling the fence, Mai, but at least you're thinking about where you want to be. Many don't even think. They are the problem. I hope and believe that, as you sort this whole thing out, and realize what self-styled liberals and conservatives each really stand for, that you will lean toward the conservative side, even if you split your ballot.

By the way, better kick that gun registration thinking if you like to hunt, because the New York, Massachusetts and California liberals want you and other law-abiding people never to have a firearm again. Criminals don't care about registration.

I believe you're like me ... a "recovering" Republican. You're really in the middle, a moderate, because you have positions on both sides of the aisle.

I, too, have strong positions ... but they are on both sides of the political spectrum.

The problem today is that the two parties are controlled by the lunatic fringes of both ... and they are so intransigent in their beliefs and approach that you are "either with us or against us".

They want us to support *everything* they espouse ... or we are the enemy.

The first party that wises up and nominates moderate candidates will sweep into office with those candidates with an overwhelming majority.

I see it like this: The Dems control 20% (their "faithful") ... the GOP controls 20% (their "faithful") ... and the 60% of us in the middle have to choose between the extremes.

For the moment.

You really shouldn't feel that you have to belong to either of the 2 big parties. I say take your $100 and donate it a cause or campaign that your really believe in rather than trying to diagnose yourself into a party. But if it's one of the 2 I say Democrats because you sound like a moderate Democrat.

You should give your money to the party that's the best answer.

So here's my answer: Mine.:

I'm starting a new party. SPLATT (note the name). It stands for Stop PLATe Tectonics.

Our platform is to eliminate earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis.

Our mascots are the flatworm and squash.

Theme songs: "Shake, Rattle and Roll", "Whole Lot of Shaking Going On", "I Fell the Earth Move Under My Feet", "Hunka Burning Love"

Do you want to join? $100 not needed. ~<{:-)]#

With the exception of being pro-choice, you would fit mostly into the Republican party. There are a few pro-choice Rep. out there (like Arlen Spector), but they are few and far between.
