which is better for a laptop? Centrino, centrino duo, AMD turion, Dual core, celeron M? etc

Dual Core is by far the fastest but also most expensive. The AMD Turion is nice and not as costly.

The best choice for a laptop is either a Core Duo or Centrino Duo (for all intents and purposes those are the same thing).

AMD dual core is better, if you are going to buy a new CPU/PC I would urge you to wait a couple of weeks as AMD dual core prizes are going to drop soon to meet the competion from Intel

Dual Core, which is why all new Macs ship ship with them. ;-)
Addendum: Of course, Centrino is a "chipset" not the processor, so you are kinda mixing chipsets and processors, not the same thing.
