You should opt for the name you believe fits the child. Oliver is actually quite nice; I really don't think that would cause other children to be cruel.

I know a little boy named Oliver and he doesn't get teased about his name at all. If you are concerned, give him a nice strong middle name, at least then he can choose to use it as his name later. Or give him Oliver as his middle name. Or have you already named him this? Just be sure that you treat him like a big important guy. Kids are mean no matter what, they always find some way to tease over a name anyway.

Great name! What about giving Oliver a more "common" name for the middle name so that later he can choose to go by that one if he wishes? Oliver John, for example.

I really like the name! Best wishes!

I love the name Oliver for a boy. I volunteer in a children's hospital and have met a few kids named Oliver. They are always so cute and I haven't noticed them being picked on for their name.

You could name your son "John" and he would get picked on. Kids are super mean.

Oliver is an okay name. I like the name "Oliver Stone" followed by a last name.

I beleive that a child can and will get picked on no matter what their name is.

If you like the name Oliver,
then that is what you should name him.
Keep in mind that many people will call him Ollie

it probably doesn't matter what you name your baby in terms of him being picked on. Kids pick on other kids. Oliver is an nice name, not too over used. And how will it be for him when he grows up and is a man, then? Better than a cutsie name. And peeps can be like, " Yo O, what you be doin," And O says, I don't know, but could you bring me a cup of Joe, and don't slow my flow moe." fo Sho.

It's a great name, different than the others. Don't change something like his name because of being afraid of the stupid kids in his hypothetical class. I don't think he would, but even if he were picked on, it would end up making him stronger. Using old names is becoming a trend anyway. Kids who are a little different grow up to be kids who are a little stronger.

Just don't give him the middle name "clothesoff", okay?

No. I love the name Oliver. I have a dear friend named Oliver but have always - without fail- called him Ollie Dollie.

oliver is a much better name than what some poor kids have now a days. such as a girl in our town named shithede (pronounced sha-theed) can you imagine how she is picked on. what a dumb mother she had. your child can be picked on for something and if you have a concern try using oliver for his middle name.
