How are they going to explain that?

Here's how the current conflict actually began:-
"basically the current stage of what's going on -- there's a lot more -- begins with the Hamas election, back the end of January. Israel and the United States at once announced that they were going to punish the people of Palestine for voting the wrong way in a free election. And the punishment has been severe.

At the same time, it's partly in Gaza, and sort of hidden in a way, but even more extreme in the West Bank, where Olmert announced his annexation program, what’s euphemistically called “convergence” and described here often as a “withdrawal,” but in fact it’s a formalization of the program of annexing the valuable lands, most of the resources, including water, of the West Bank and cantonizing the rest and imprisoning it, since he also announced that Israel would take over the Jordan Valley. Well, that proceeds without extreme violence or nothing much said about it.

Gaza, itself, the latest phase, began on June 24. It was when Israel abducted two Gaza civilians, a doctor and his brother. We don't know their names. You don’t know the names of victims. They were taken to Israel, presumably, and nobody knows their fate. The next day, something happened, which we do know about, a lot. Militants in Gaza, probably Islamic Jihad, abducted an Israeli soldier across the border. That’s Corporal Gilad Shalit. And that's well known; first abduction is not. Then followed the escalation of Israeli attacks on Gaza, which I don’t have to repeat. It’s reported on adequately.

The next stage was Hezbollah's abduction of two Israeli soldiers, they say on the border. Their official reason for this is that they are aiming for prisoner release. There are a few, nobody knows how many. Officially, there are three Lebanese prisoners in Israel. There's allegedly a couple hundred people missing. Who knows where they are?

But the real reason, I think it's generally agreed by analysts, is that -- I’ll read from the Financial Times, which happens to be right in front of me. “The timing and scale of its attack suggest it was partly intended to reduce the pressure on Palestinians by forcing Israel to fight on two fronts simultaneously.” David Hearst, who knows this area well, describes it, I think this morning, as a display of solidarity with suffering people, the clinching impulse."

When the American people stop their government from sending $90 Billion of their taxes to Israel to support their barbaric acts then the fighting will stop.

And also when the American people stop their governments from vetoing any chance of a peaceful settlement, then maybe there will be an agreement.

Looking at those answers, you do not have to wonder why Americans are hated all over the planet. A country is killing human beings from your neighbor country and all you can respond to that is " that does not affect us ".

It looks like some of you will never learn. Don't be surprised if some other planes come down crashing in your buildings because you keep being blind to whatever is happening outside of your borders.

Defending yourself will NEVER mean killing innocents. Unless you still live in the Middle Age.

Wow - that's more research than most will do on the subject. I applaud you to a certain degree. Unfortunately you did get some mis-information. The amount that the U.S. has given to Israel that you are quoting is the total over the past 58 years. The amount last year is just over 2 billion - big difference.

Who is to blame - honestly both sides - this has been going on far longer than all of this - the Intifada this past decade - many other major conflicts since 1949. Of course it can be linked back way before this if one desires to document and continue the blame game.

The real question that should be asked is what is the solution to the mid-east violence.

The real answer is: An authority above the national level must exert serious pressure on both sides as a neutral entity (say at the U.N. level) Since the U.N. doesn't have this power, the U.N. needs serious reform and real power to solve international conflicts. Until then, we will continue to blame each other and kill each other into oblivion.

Im Jewish, but I hate the way the Israeli government treats the area around Israel as some sort of giant military training ground.

You dont fight terrorists by bombing civilians, and destroying domestic infrastructure so that the lives of ordinary people are made miserable. And America is as much to blame, because without the support of the US, Israel would never have either the power or chutzpah to get away with it.

I hate anyone who suggests that Israel has no right to exist as an independent democratic state...but its time Israel started to behave like one, and not like some kind of tinpot military dictatorship like its doing right now.

Americans Evacuated From Lebanon Amid Attacks
Sunday, July 16, 2006

HAIFA, Israel — The U.S. Marines on Sunday evacuated from Lebanon 20 Americans with pre-existing medical conditions after guerrillas pounded the northern Israeli city of Haifa, killing eight people at a train station and wounding seven others.

Within two hours of the 8 a.m. Haifa attack, Israeli warplanes struck back with a hit on Hezbollah's south Beirut headquarters, and hours later Lebanese security officials said an Israeli airstrike on the southern port city of Tyre had killed nine civilians and wounded 42.

Israel is defending itself....

Slow down dude your Smagh is showing.

Very few Americans like this format your using. Try a more subtle approach. Like Canadian tourists were injured. Or tourist from Quebec is even better.

In America we know that Canada is full of terrorists so saying Israel killed Canadians doesn't impact us.

You can use the Jew element also Most Americans are antisemitic. So saying the Jews killed Quebec tourists will work better for your cause.

There will never be peace in the middle east. Justify all you like, it will never happen..ever. Stop acting shocked, there will never be peace. People will continue to die until global warming heats up the earth and kills everyone.

The only solution to the problem in the middle east is to continue burning fossil fuels and hope the earth becomes uninhabitable for humans.

Hi there, Osama!

Any civilians killed in the Israeli attacks are innocent victims of a war started by Hezbollah ... a terror organization with a history of atrocities dating back decades.

But, you alread know that, don't you Mr. bin Laden?

I know you can't be calling Israels actions "barbaric" with a straight face. You are nothing but a puppet of Islamofascist propaganda. Now go back to your cave with your girlfriend osama.
