I'm fairly sure eating isn't memory but instinct. Good question.

Fish have good memories. Once they get into a habit, they remember it. Like, if you always tap the side of the tank before you feed them, they know that tapping on the glass means feeding time!

Any kind of fish at all are the same. If you give them food they'lleat. it. They don't know when theyre hungry or not. So if u give them too much food they will die.
